Step Up for Breastfeeding!

World Breastfeeding Week is annually marked from August 1st to 7th, this year has no difference, and its theme is ‘Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support’. As the event reminds us to raise awareness about the essential of breastfeeding, it also has purpose to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding all over the world.
Breastfeeding gives a baby all the nutrition they need and becomes a natural choice for infant feeding. WHO, UNICEF, and Ministry of Health always recommend early and exclusive breastfeeding for about the first six months of a baby’s life, because it’s necessary to set up their immune system against life-threatening illness and prevent childhood malnutrition.
Even mothers with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 and who are isolated at home to continue breastfeeding. Don’t forget to do hygiene precautions before feed the baby.
In this special occasion, Sidorejo Lor Public Health Care encourages mothers to breastfeed for as long as they would like. It can be difficult, and every women’s decision to breastfeed is diverse. Mothers have right to breastfeed in public, that’s why lactation room is exist in every public space and workplace. We must work together to create an environment which is hospitable to Step Up for Breastfeeding.
